2006年3月16日，应我所邀请，日本东京大学Toshio KOIKE教授请我所作了“Data interpretation and Downscaling of CEOP and GEO”的学术报告，我所刘小汉副所长主持了报告会，在京相关研究人员和部分研究生听取了报告。

  Toshio KOIKE教授的报告分为两大部分，他首先介绍了CEOP（The Coordinated Enhanced Observing Period ）大型国际研究计划中数据采集、解译、数据库建立及用户使用等方面的技术思路及实现方法，并用生动的示例说明了全球用户如何通过web页面获得自己感兴趣的CEOP数据及分析结果。Toshio KOIKE教授报告的第二部分则重点介绍了GEO（Group on Earth Observations）：GEO是一个国际联合组织，旨在未来10年内建立地球综合观测系统（a Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS)），现GEO包括了60个国家（含中国），欧共体及43个相关国际组织（相关网址：http://earthobservations.org/default.asp）。目前GEO在日内瓦设有总部办公室，主要开展natural disaster mitigation, environment and human health, sustainable development (energy), climate change impacts, water resource management, weather information and prediction, coastal ecosystem management, inland ecosystem management, sustainable development (agriculture), biodiversity等10个方面的研究。

  Toshio KOIKE教授的报告引起了大家的广泛兴趣，报告之后，他和与会人员又进行了详细的交流和讨论。
